DKNY - Be Delicious

DKNY: Be Rebel, Be Gold, Be Delicious

We had to choose three points of departure artistic (artistic movement or period, painter and photographer) and a product or brand, and hence, develop a series of photographs and drawings.

Urban art, Gustav Klimt and Terry Richardson. As a brand and product, we chose DKNY(Donna Karan New York) and Be Delicious perfume.

To weave the different authors in which we will base for the project and the ultimate idea we were trying to convey in the photographs, we have to find a number of elements and the form of projects.

In principle, we separate the three objectives of inspiration for our work to collect the elements of each:

-The Urban Art

Urban art describes any art expressed in the street, usually illegally. Urban art encompasses both graffiti as various other forms of artistic expression on the street. In the beginning, the theme of this art or means of expression and political dissent was social, but has been drifting toward an art of ideas, feelings and sensations, or simple aesthetics and design.

In our case, we have rescued from their primary means of urban art, graffiti, and we have extracted from it its design and theme of social rebellion and nonconformity to use as a stage, an urban environment, radical, flashy imperfect.

-Gustav Klimt:

Gustav Klimt was an Austrian Symbolist painter and one of the most conspicuous representatives of the modernist movement of the Viennese Secession. Klimt painted canvases with a personal style ornate, ornate Klimt elements found in the female nude one of his most frequent sources of inspiration. His works are endowed with an intense sensual energy, reflected most clearly in its many notes and sketches in pencil, in a sense the heirs of the tradition of Rodin's erotic drawings and Ingres.

Also, if something defined Klimt was the representation of Glamour, feminine beauty and sensuality. As for his technique, Klimt found in his painting as an indispensable element gold, which is its greatest feature. Similarly, warm earth tones and saturation of colors and elements were part of your brand.

For our membership, we have rescued more important as a principal use of the golden Klimt, who defines his work and style. Gold is the essence of the beauty of Klimt's work, which he brings out their forms and figures and causes the halo of subtlety, sensuality and glamor, and that's the feeling we seek.

Terry Richardson:

Provocative, eccentric rabble. Attention, is definitely crossing the line that achieves success to become "someone", and be very good or very bad. Terry Richardson has done just that.Hated by the professionals, but consumers loved by his portraits, in short, on everyone's lips.

Photographer Terry Richardson is opposed to the rest, does not seek perfection in the picture, not looking for perfect bodies, not to remove dirt from the image and always looks natural in his works. Its distinguishing feature is eroticism and provocation. While most non-professional photos of their work borders on pornographic photography, his style is based on provocation, desire and the contrast of the beauty and imperfection.

Richardson's style have drawn provocative, sensual, sexy, and a female and male figures real, natural, away from the canons skeletal and pale.

Being clear about the three main concepts of different authors and the artistic movement: the radicalism of urban art, Gustav Klimt's glamor and the provocation of Terry Richardson, We have integrated these elements to provide the desired effect on our work and associate with the idea we sell the product.

Our main purpose is to draw the idea in the minds of viewers with DKNY Be Delicious will find a perfume for men and women, urban, natural, yet sophisticated, he is prepared to maintain our sensual touch, our beauty and our rebellious touch in any situation, anywhere.

With the phrase in his head "No matter where you are, feel superior, feel empowered, feel sexy," we begin our preparation of the photographs.

We begin to define the different elements of the image that we would try: Scenario, models, costumes and attitude. From the outset, we knew that photography was not going to be fantastic or dreamlike, as it could be a picture of Klimt, but we wanted to recreate a realistic environment, now and take those concepts and elements of modernism and the characters of Klimt, and adapted to our time updating, using the setting urban art as a starting point, and Klimt as inspiration for the attitudes and frames of photography.

For the creation of the stage, immediately think of street art, and we wanted to create a strong contrast between glamor and beauty and radical urban and applying the models and the stage respectively, but did not work in reverse. An idyllic setting with characters set in the urban art (Rappers, Skaters, Break Dancers, Rollers ... etc) completely out of tune with our purpose and caused a dissonance between the image elements.

Therefore, we decided to recreate an urban environment, with graffiti as a major element of the image, and a ruined environment, dirty and far from perfect, to create greater contrast with the models and characters.

So, we went to an abandoned shelter met all the requirements needed and do a research process in order to prepare the frames, scenarios and appropriate angles.

As for the models or characters and costumes, our source of inspiration was directly and exclusively Klimt, but not taking his style, technique and elements literally, but extrapolating and adapting them to today.

Klimt used gold as a master in all his compositions in painting, was the color and the link in all his works, besides the clutter and elements in the image. Likewise, the characters in his paintings always have an elegance, detail and unmistakable glam

Our vision to bring all these elements, gold was used as a master in the costumes of the models, giving them an insurmountable power of attraction, like the works of Klimt. The elements we observe saturation in the amount of accessories and ornaments worn by models (female) and likewise, supported by the many different colors offered in the graffiti scene.

Similarly, the cult of beauty and glamor forms is present in the makeup, the costumes of the models.

At the meeting of all the main concepts, we ended up with attitude.

Based primarily on Terry Richardson and Gustav Klimt, we had a subtle and never literal inspiration of his works, but his style is latent in the work. I have quoted above, there is a balance and attempt harmony between sensuality, eroticism and the cult of beauty and glamor.

In our work there is no static and hieratic Ethos is not a worship of the idyllic and distant figure of Klimt, but neither approaches the end of the nude apricot radical and partial or full or any type of sexual act Terry Richardson style .

Looking at the pictures, we see a clear symbiosis between a figure beautiful, elegant and sometimes romantic, but adapted to our fees and current times, showing a subtle sensuality and provocative, but always within the thin line of the suggestive and precious time.

The union of all these elements and their interpretation are linked perfectly with the image of the product and brand that we promote with our photography.
